The Avoca Camel Cup Country Wool & Wine Festival. Sunday, 8th June 2008.

Picture a day in June at the Avoca Race Course, settled at the base of the Pyrenees ranges. www.avoca.vic.au Escape the city for the weekend or the night, just rug up and come to the Camel races, place your bets and see how they run, purchase your own marquee or simply bring a chair.

The entire family is welcome; just make sure you pack your gum boots! Come and camp the night under the stars, or book your accommodation in Avoca or surrounding area. You could choose to make your way back into town on one of our local shuttle buses at the end of the fireworks. Camping is available so stay and enjoy the warm fires burning. There will be talented artists and country Jazz and blues music playing in a warm and friendly atmosphere all day and into the night.

The Camel race is proudly supported by our local wineries. Fine food and wine can be enjoyed or if you prefer a good old fashioned Aussie BBQ. Come dressed to the nines and enter Fashions on the Field (best wool garments) and help support the Australian wool industry. Alternatively wear gumboots and op shop clothes and support the needy. Taste our fine local wines or buy a beer, a Bundy, a good coffee or water.
